Job Overview
Jones Family Farms is seeking a skilled and dedicated Farm Equipment and Irrigation System Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating various types of machinery, particularly in agricultural settings. This role requires mechanical knowledge and the ability to work with farm equipment, ensuring efficient operation while maintaining safety standards. The Equipment Operator will play a crucial role in supporting our agricultural operations, contributing to the overall productivity and success of our farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in cultivating, mowing, spraying, and haying.
- Use of forklift; loading/unloading trucks.
- Irrigation system operations, including pump and pipe set up.
- Occasional chainsaw operations.
- Anticipate needs and perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate activities and maintain safety standards.
- Maintain a clean work environment that is safe and conducive to working efficiently.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and report any malfunctions or issues promptly.
Position Requirements
- Ideal candidate will have experience safely operating various types of heavy equipment, and the mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on equipment.
- Attention to detail and well organized.
- Must be able to work independently to complete activities, while also able to communicate and collaborate with team members and supervisors.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to assist with special projects as requested, including helping with hospitality operations during the farm’s busy harvest-your-own seasons.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including high heat/humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Stamina to stand for extended periods of time, regularly lifting and carrying tools or equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds, and ability to climb steps and ladders.

- Knowledge of fruit, vegetable, and nursery production.
- Basic computer skills and comfort with digital record-keeping
Schedule
- A full-time position at the farm is based upon 2200 hours per year.
- Full-time hours will include a combination of weekdays and weekends. Weekend availability most critical during the farm’s busy Pumpkin and Christmas Tree harvest-your-own seasons (late September-October and late November-December).
- As job will entail mostly outdoor work, hours will depend on weather conditions.
